SENTINEL HAS STARRING ROLE AT HISTORIC DOCKYARD
During the weekend of the 8-9 Apr 06 our Sentinel had a starring role during the Bicentennial Celebration of Brunel at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.
Having provided the organisers with some wisdom regarding how to put on a Steam Show the Lorry steamed over to Portsmouth on a cold Friday afternoon at the beginning of April. This would be the Lorry’s first road run since emerging from the winter refit period which proved beyond doubt the brakes and drivers patience!
Throughout Saturday and Sunday we had a spectacular back drop of HMS Victory and carried over 1500 guests on the back of the Lorry during some very pleasant weather conditions. Many other attractions were on show including traction engines, road locomotives, miniatures, steamboats, steam fairground attractions and model railways.
It was with testament to the club members splendid efforts during the winter that the Lorry behaved throughout the weekend with the exception of post refit teething problems with the steam operated brakes that required some innovative engineering on site.
